Drug suspect shot
dead in Kabankalan
BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Motorcycle riding suspects yesterday shot and killed another drug personality, this time in Brgy. Hilamonan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

The victim identified by the Kabankalan police as Jose Bugalon Jr., alias Tutor and Bogart, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds. He was declared dead on arrival at the Lorenzo Zayco District Hospital, the police said.

Bugalon, who topped the list of alleged drug personalities operating in Kabankalan City, was on his way home, when he was followed and shot by four motorcycle-riding suspects, who were wearing bonnets.

Eight empty shells of a .45 caliber pistol were recovered by the police at the scene of incident.

The four suspects fled towards the north direction.

Bugalon was the third drug personality killed in the past weeks, with two others gunned down in San Carlos and Hinigaran town, respectively. The gunmen also were also riding in motorcycles, and reportedly armed with .45 caliber pistols, police investigations showed.

Investigations of the Kabankalan police further showed that the killing of Bugalon, 52, who was elusive in their police operations, may have been drug-related.

A day earlier, Pedro Pagran, 57, was also shot by one of the two suspects in Sitio Camingawan, Brgy. Antipolo, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental.

Pagran, who survived the attempt on his life, despite his injuries, is now confined at a hospital in Bacolod City, while the Pontevedra police is still investigating the shooting incident.*
