P50M plane fund
diverted for renovation

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Occidental yesterday approved the proposed 2019 general fund supplemental budget number 1 of the province, in the amount of P50 million, as endorsed by Governor Alfredo Marañon.

Board Member Salvador Escalante, chairperson of the SP committee on Finance, said the P50 million budget, that was earmarked earlier for the purchase of an aircraft by the provincial government that did not push through, will be used for the renovation of the Capitol south wing area, and for grants and donations to various local government units.

On motion of Escalante, the SP also approved and endorsed the request of Marañon for the passage of a resolution affirming the interest of the provincial government to apply, negotiate and borrow funds from the Municipal Development Fund Office of the Department of Finance, for the implementation of its Employees Housing Sub-Project.

The SP also granted Marañon authority to sign project proposals and memoranda of agreement, as well as purchase orders to be entered into by the province of Negros Occidental and 12 beneficiaries, in connection with the various programs and projects under the lump-sum appropriation for 2018 and 2019, in the amount of P8.9 million.*
