Team B registers second win
in YBAC 1st Conference caging

 

Team B secured its second straight wins when it dealt Team Y its first loss in two outings of the Yours Basketball Athletic Club 1 st Conference at the West Negros University/STI gym in Bacolod City.

The leading B Team headed by Sonny Pettiere raced to a 2-0 start after defeating Team A led by Romy Sibolboro in the curtain raiser, 84-79 and outhustled Team Y of Toto Soquina in their second game assignment last Sunday, 88-79.

Mark Binguan did the heroic play for Pettierre’s squad with 23 points including three triples, while Team Y rifleman Totong Sepe fired 20 markers to lead their losing cause.

Team Y started the first quarter with a 23-17 advantage but the winning Team B retaliated in the second quarter with a 32-16 explosion to grab the upper hand in the first half of play with 49-39 lead.

Sibolboro’s squad tried to come from behind but Pettiere’s squad defended their ground in the endgame for their second win in two starts.

In the other game, Team C spearheaded by Roy Visitacion took its first victory at the expense of winless Team A of Sibolboro, 91-80.

It was a one-sided contest as the former controlled the game from the start until the final period with a 45-31 and 46-42 for Team C first win in two matches.

Julius Teruel starred for C-Team with 26 with six triples, as Arvin Gustilo, Ralp James and Marlou Caballero combined for 51 points.

Emil Guanzon top scored for the losing squad with 16 pts.*HLG
