Open day care centers during polls

Bacolod Election Officer Mavil Majarucon-Sia said they will again request the local government unit and the barangays to open their day care centers during the May 13 elections so parents or mothers will have a place to leave their children when they cast their votes.

Majarucon-Sia said they had also requested the LGU to open its day care centers during the barangay election so children will not have to suffer the heat and inconvenience during elections.

They will address their request to the Office of the Mayor while the Liga ng mga Barangay and the Department of Social Services and Development will be furnished copies, she said.

This is the advocacy of Commissioner Rowena Guanzon, Majarucon-Sia added.

Meanwhile, Majarucon-Sia said they will release the voter’s list on February 12.

The list is final except that there is a deadline for the petition for inclusion and exclusion. However, she has not heard of any petition filed in court, she said.

Majarucon-Sia said they will post the certified list of candidates on February 12. This is included in the calendar of activities of the Commission on Elections.

Candidates who want a copy of the voters’ list can secure one but they have to pay a certain fee.*
