The body of a missing 15-year-old fisherman was found in the waters of Barangay Caliling in Cauayan town, Negros Occidental, at about 11 p.m. Monday.
Lt. Commander Ludovico Librilla said yesterday that the body of Rommel Palmera was found, but his brother Roben, 17, was still missing.
Fishermen found the decomposing body of Rommel floating in the water and his relatives and friends, who went to Cauayan, positively identified him, through his ring and shorts, Librilla said.
Rommel was found six days after he and his brother Roben ventured out to sea in Pulupandan, Negros Occidental, Thursday, and failed to come home.
Their damaged fishing boat was recovered in the nearby town of Valladolid, Negros Occidental, Librilla said.
At about 1 p.m. yesterday, fishermen reportedly found what could be the body of Roben in the waters of Danjugan, also in Cauayan.
Allan Pedrosa, a driver of the local Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, who personally went to Danjugan, said rescuers have a hard time penetrating at the area where the body was spotted because of the strong current.
Pedrosa said the family members of Roben said he was wearing jersey shorts and a blue T-shirt, that matched those of the body the fishermen sighted in the waters of Danjugan. However, the body disappeared after several minutes.
Librilla said the recent search results were negative and they have coordinated with the nearby Sipalay Coast Guard to find the body.*
