Sagay cop chief returned
BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Police Supt. Mario Baquiran and Chief Inspector Antonio Benitez are back in their old positions.

Benitez returned as officer-in-charge of the Sagay City Police Station, several days after his appointment as commander of the Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company (NOPFMC), Chief Inspector Edison Garcia, spokesman of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, said yesterday.

Baquiran, who initially succeeded Benitez as Sagay City police OIC, is now the NOPMFC commander, a post he also held two years ago, before he was assigned as Guihulngan City police chief in Negros Oriental last year.

Both Baquiran, who used to be the commander of the Special Action Battalion 6 of the elite PNP Special Action Force, and Benitez, who was previously assigned at the 6th Regional Mobile Force Battalion, are both active in the campaign against local insurgents in northern Negros, police records show.*
