The police arrested two more gun ban violators and three others for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 in Negros Occidental, on Saturday.
A suspect identified as Joseph Tamayo, 48, was apprehended by the police at Burgos Street in Brgy. 1 Poblacion, Isabela, Negros Occidental, for having in his possession a .45 caliber pistol.
A team of Isabela policemen led by SPO3 Jason Alacapa, responded to a commotion that involved Tamayo, who had threatened a certain Ramy Alipan with his gun.
Tamayo, 48, was disarmed of his pistol with ammunition, the police said.
Policemen also arrested Roderin Gambalan at the Manokan Food Park in Brgy. Zone 2, Murcia, Negros Occidental, for violation of the Comelec gun ban.
The arrest of Gambalan, 26, also yielded a .22 caliber revolver with ammunition and an empty shell in its cylinder.
The apprehension of the two suspects brought to five the number of gun ban violators accounted for by the police in Negros Occidental, since its implementation on January 13.
An estimated P18,000 worth of suspected shabu and its paraphernalia were also recovered by the police during a buy-bust operation in Sitio Amihan, Brgy. Suba, Calatrava, Saturday.
The police also recovered P500 in marked money and P1,000 in cash believed to be proceeds from the sale of prohibited drugs from the arrested suspect identified as Mark Bravel Sorote, who is now in jail.
Aldrin Garay was also arrested by the police for violation of RA 9165 in Brgy. Palaka, Valladolid.
The apprehension of Garay, 40, yielded five sachets of suspected shabu and P200 in marked money, the Valladolid police said.
A buy-bust operation also in Brgy. Fabrica, Sagay City, also led to the arrest of Linbert Chavez, alias Intsik, and the recovery of five sachets of suspected shabu, worth P3,000, and P500 in marked money.*
