Rains to hit north Negros

The Negros Occidental Provincial Disaster Management Division is keeping a close watch on northern Negros Occidental that is expected to be hit by rains brought on by Tropical Depression Amang today.

The rains are expected to hit northern Negros Occidental with PAGASA hoisting Signal No1. Over Northern Cebu, Melvin Fierro Sr. of the PDMD said yesterday.

Slight to moderate rains are also expected over the rest of Negros Occidental, he said.

“Amang” made landfall over Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte at 8 last night, PAGASA reported.

As of 10 last night the center of “Amang” was estimated to be 80 kilometers North Northeast of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, it added.

It had maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 60 kph at 11 last night.

In the Visayas aside from Northern Cebu signal number 1 was hoisted Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte and Eastern Bohol.*
