A theft suspect was added to the list of gun ban violators arrested by the police, while five others were apprehended for violation of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, in Negros Occidental.
Policemen arrested Christian Diputado, alias Spiderman, on Thursday for violation of the Comelec gun ban at Ylagan Street in Brgy. 6, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
Supt. D’Artagnan Katalbas, San Carlos City police chief, reported that the arrest of Diputado, 24, yielded a .38 caliber revolver with four ammunition, two sachets of suspected shabu and its assorted paraphernalia, a cellular phone, three wrist watches and assorted jewelry.
Investigations by the police showed that the recovered jewelry and cellular phone were found to have been stolen from Angelina Cosa, who told the police that the items were taken from her residence.
The recovered shabu had an estimated market value of P1,200, the police said.
On the same day, an estimated P60,000 worth of suspected shabu was also recovered by the police during a buy-bust operation at San Juan - Bonifacio streets in Brgy. 5, San Carlos City.
The suspected shabu weighing five grams was taken from the arrested suspect identified by the police as Anthony Carallas, 32.
Also recovered during the arrest of Carallas were assorted shabu paraphernalia, P1,050 in cash and P1,000 in marked money.
Two other drug suspects, identified as Esmeraldo Navaja and Gilbert Jamola were also apprehended by the police in another buy-bust operation also on Thursday, in Brgy. 6, Victorias City.
The apprehension of the two suspects yielded a gram of suspected shabu worth P3,000 and its paraphernalia, P200 in marked money and P150 in cash believed to be proceeds from the sale of illegal drugs.
Chief Inspector Romeo Vargas also reported the arrest of a drug suspect he identified as Nino Cabasag in Brgy. 1 poblacion, La Carlota City.
The apprehension of Cabasag also yielded P2,500 worth of suspected shabu and P300 in marked money.
Meanwhile, the apprehension of Caleb Carian, 41, also for violation for RA 9165 in Brgy. Binicuil, Kabankalan City, yielded P12,000 worth of suspected shabu, P100 in marked money and P2,870 in cash, the police said.*
