Lacson optimistic
on Palaro bid approval

Vice-Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday expressed his optimism that Negros Occidental will be successful in its bid for hosting the 2021 Palarong Pambansa.

As far as readiness, there is no question, Lacson, who led a team from Negros Occidental in making the bid Monday in Manila, said.

Capiz is also making a bid for hosting the Palarong Pambansa 2021.

Lacson said that the selection board of the Department of Education is sending their representatives to validate and inspect billeting facilities they have mentioned during a presentation in Manila.

Negros Occidental already hosted the school-based annual national sports competition four times, while none for Capiz.

Lacson said DepEd were impressed of their presentation. In fact, they told us that they are aware of the capacity of Bacolod and Negros to host such national sports competition.

But he also entertained the possibility that other provinces maybe given an opportunity to host the Palarong Pambansa

The Palarong Pambansa this year is slated to be held in Davao City, while next year’s Games will be staged in Luzon.

Lacson said that they are now preparing for the hosting of annual Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) next year.*GPB
