Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Francel Martinez has pledged to continue the economic programs for entrepreneurs and the fishing sector, and to make the province more tourism and education-friendly.
NOCCI will launch the ‘Fish Right’ project this month in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development to promote proper fishing and improve the livelihood of the fishing sector in the province.
Martinez said NOCCI intends to reach out to fishermen to help them in the business aspect, while training them in protecting the fish and ocean while augmenting their income.
He also expressed interest in strengthening NOCCI’s network and partnerships through alliances with government and nongovernment development partners.
The NOCCI also plans to discuss with former Cebu Investment Promotions Center chief, Jose Mari Yu, the build-operate-transfer scheme on government projects.
“We also would like to ask Yu to talk on their experience of CITOM (Cebu City Traffic Operations and Management) because this is partly operated by a private business that deals with traffic and parking, which NOCCI is planning to replicate because we want Dumaguete to be visitor or tourism and education-friendly,” Martinez said.*WITH PIA
