There is no funding to put up new Negosyo Centers this year, Department of Trade and Industry-Negros Occidental Director Lea Gonzales said yesterday.
Gonzales told the DAILY STAR that supposedly, they plan to put up 10 more NCs in the province to ensure that all towns and cities of Neg. Occ. will have a facility to help small businesses.
There are already 23 NCs in the province, including one put up by the provincial government, she said, adding that because there are budget constraints, DTI Neg. Occ. will focus on maintaining these offices this year.
Gonzales said they have the budget on capital outlay, but they did not have a budget for putting up 10 NCs in the province, given that only Neg. Occ. and Iloilo provinces have not yet completed the put up of the facility in all its LGUs, adding that putting up the additional NCs might take place in 2020.
There are already NCs in Bacolod, Binalbagan, Bago, Cadiz, Cauayan, E.B. Magalona, Escalante, Himamaylan, Hinigaran, Hinoba-an, Isabela, Kabankalan, La Carlota, La Castellana, Pontevedra, Sagay, San Carlos, San Enrique, Silay, Sipalay, Talisay, and Victorias.
The 10 LGUs with no Negosyo Centers are Calatrava, Candoni, Ilog, Manapla, Moises Padilla, Murcia, Pulupandan, Salvador Benedicto, Toboso, and Valladolid.*
