BacoLaodiat opens
lantern tilt to students

Organizers of the 14th BacoLaodiat Festival, Bacolod’s celebration of the Chinese New Year on February 1 to 4, are calling on students’ groups to join the Lighted Giant Pig Lantern Contest.

The contest is open to all high school, college, and vocational course students in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental, a press release from the organizers said.

The group of school-based artists must have a recommendation from their principal or head of their institution. However, if the group decides not to carry the name of the school, all members must be bonafide students and will need certifications from the schools they are currently enrolled at, the press release said.

All members of a group must come from the same school.

Participants must fill in a registration form available at the BacoLaodiat office.

There will be a financial assistance of P5,000 each to the first eight participating groups that can complete the registration at the BacoLaodiat office at 6 p.m. of January 19, the press release added.*
