Vice Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday said he will push for the growth of tourism in Negros Occidental in 2019 to boost the local economy.
Lacson, who is expected to win the governorship in May, said he is discussing how to strengthen tourism and the economy of the province with outgoing Rep. Alfredo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District), who promised to help him.
The vice governor reiterated that he will continue the programs of Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. in education, health and agriculture that have been a big help to the people.
Lacson said with the help of Benitez, hopefully more will invest in businesses in the province. Improving the economic situation of the province will help so many people, he said.
Lacson reiterated that he is not endorsing any candidate in Bacolod City, which is not part of Negros Occidental, being a highly urbanized city.
“I have no influence in Bacolod City so, definitely, I will not mention any candidate,” he said.
But Lacson said he hopes Bacoleños vote for candidates from the whole team, whichever one they choose.
“We have seen the advantage of the congressman and mayor working together. I won’t mention whom but I hope Bacolod will consider voting for the whole team,” he added.*
