Mishap kills driver, animals


A driver died after the cement mixer truck he was driving hit another vehicle, part of a house and killed five pigs in Barangay Igmayaan, Salvador Benedicto in Negros Occidental about 3:45 yesterday afternoon, the town’s police chief said.

The driver Joebert Cacho, 35, of Bacolod City was declared dead on the spot, Senior Inspector Gerald Muya said.

Cacho was driving the cement mixer vehicle of Silver Dragon Construction downhill and attempted to turn around when the accident occurred, Muya said.

The cement mixer vehicle and the Suzuki Carry it hit were total wrecks, he said.

The house of Vicente Morden was partially damaged and luckily no one was at home, Muya added.*
