The group composed of barangays Sag-ang and Mansalanao won the championship in the 2019 Bailes de Luces Festival dance showdown-barangay level in La Castellana town, Negros Occidental, Saturday night.
First runner up was the contingent from barangays Biaknabato and Masulog, while second runner up was from the barangays Nato and Lalagsan cluster.
The top three winners in the barangay level brought home P100,000, P75,000, and P50,000 in cash prizes, respectively.
For the elementary level, the La Castellana District 1 was the champion and received P100,000, and first runner up was the La Castellana District 2 that won P75,000 in cash prize.
Persons deprived of liberty at the Bureau of Jail and Management Penology facility in La Castellana, wearing their lighted costumes, also performed before the start of the arena showdown.
Several revelers, who were not able to get into the gym, watched the group of festival dancers, dressed in their colorful and sparkly costumes, perform from the LED screens installed in front of the public plaza.
Among the guests at the event were former Philippine National Police chief Ronald dela Rosa, former Senior Supt. Cezar Mancao, vice gubernatorial bet Jeffrey Ferrer, Isabela Mayor Joselito Malabor, and Victorias Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca.*
