dispute NBTC title today


The NBTC Bacolod provincial champions will be crowned today after Tay Tung High School and STI-WNU each earned a win in the best-of-three finals of the tournament at the STI-WNU Covered Court during the weekend.

After falling 73-80 in Game 1, Taytung , led by Christian Gamao escaped with a three-point margin, 66-63, in Game 2 yesterday.

Gamao, who had 10 points in Game 1, delivered 13 points in Game 2 as Tay Tung kept their hopes alive in the tournament Felix Valencia and Rommel Hechanova backed him up in the scoring department as the Thunderbolts made sure escaped with the Game 2 win to force a decider today.

Valencia, who made his mark in junior basketball after earning a slot in the 2016 Jr. NBA All-Star lineup, had 8 points in Game 1 and 9 points yesterday.

STI-WNU outplayed Tay Tung in Game 1 with a fourth quarter surge after a lethargic first quarter performance. The two finalists advanced to the championship round after prevailing over separate rivals in the semi-finals.

Tay Tung eliminated University of St. La Salle, while STI-WNU prevailed over Living Stone International School.*NAB
