Cops nab six, seize shabu

Six more drug suspects were arrested by the police in a series of anti-drug operations that resulted to the confiscation of P294,000 worth of suspected shabu in Negros Occidental, Thursday and yesterday.

The buy-bust operation of the police on Thursday in Sitio Estaca, Brgy. Lantad, Silay City, led to the arrest of Edgar Pandes, of Brgy. 2, Bacolod City, that also yielded 10 grams of suspected shabu, estimated to cost P150,000.

Supt. Noel Polines, Silay City police chief, said that aside from suspected shabu, they also recovered a .45 caliber Colt pistol with ammunition, P4,840 in cash, a Honda motorcycle and six cellular phones.

Jodel Cagas, on the same day, was also arrested for violation of RA 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Drugs Act of 2002, in Brgy. Mambulac, Silay City, Polines said.

The arrest of Cagas, 30, also yielded about seven grams of suspected shabu, estimated at P105,000, P500 in marked money, and a Samsung cellular phone, he added.

Three drug suspects identified by the police as Raffy Nicor, William Urbanu and Randy Melgar were also arrested during a buy-bust-operation in Brgy. Vito, Sagay City, yesterday.

Chief Inspector Antonio Benitez, Sagay City police officer-in-charge, yesterday said that the apprehension of three suspects also yielded P3,000 in suspected shabu, and its paraphernalia.

The six arrested suspects are now facing charges for violation of RA 9165.*
