Bodies of 2 buried in tunnel found

The bodies of two remaining treasure hunters were retrieved yesterday from a tunnel that collapsed in Purok 4, Barangay Boloc-boloc, Sibulan town, Negros Oriental, Wednesday.

The cadaver of Bobby Baldado of Palimpinon, Valencia was recovered early dawn yesterday, while that of Feliciano Encilay Sr., 62, of Poblacion 8, was retrieved at 5 p.m.

The body of Algie Javier of Isugan, Bacong was recovered at 5:45 p.m. Thursday. Their fourth companion, Mauro Alforque, 44, of Aldea Homes in Dumaguete, was rescued Wednesday.

Baldado’s body was found in pieces, the first to be recovered were the arms, then the head, followed by the lower extremities.

The headless body of Encilay was already in an advanced state of decomposition when retrieved at about 5 p.m. yesterday. His head was found about 30 minutes later.

The men were trapped about 50 feet below ground.

They were believed to be in search of gold and diamonds, authorities said.*
