Cops arrest brothers,
seize shabu, guns

A police operation against a person with disability and his brother yielded guns, a grenade, ammunition, and suspected illegal shabu worth P420,000 in Purok Gaisano, Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City, at about 3 p.m. yesterday, the police said.

Insp. Adrian James Albaytar, Bacolod police City Drug Enforcement Unit team leader, identified the arrested brothers as Rogelio and Ricky Villanueva.

The arrest of the Villanueva brothers resulted to the seizure of 13 sachets of suspected shabu, a homemade shotgun, a .45 caliber pistol, a grenade, ammunition for a shotgun, and a .45 caliber pistol, Albaytar said.

He said they conducted the buy-bust against their subject Rogelio, who is a PWD, and recovered the guns, ammunition and grenade in the bags that the suspects were carrying.

Both Rogelio and Ricky are on the watchlist of the CDEU, Albaytar added.

The suspects are now detained at the Station 7 custodial facility and may face charges for illegal possession of firearms, ammunition, and an explosive, as well as for drug charges.*
