Vice-Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday said that the chances of Negros Occidental to host the 2021 Palarong Pambansa seems to be “very good”.
Lacson said they were told by members of the Department of Education evaluating team, who recently visited Negros Occidental, that they are in a position to host again the school-based annual national sports competition.
Capiz is also making a bid for hosting the Palarong Pambansa 2021. Lacson said that they also presented to them the reserve areas for playing venues, which is also a factor being considered.
The Palarong Pambansa this year is slated to be held in Davao City, while next year’s Games will be staged in Luzon. Lacson added that the province has enough billeting areas, with Bacolod City even more than enough rooms to accommodate Palarong Pambansa delegates.
As far as readiness, we are 100 percent ready, and the evaluating acknowledged that, he said. Although he is optimistic that Negros Occidental may able to get it, Lacson said there are still other considerations that “we cannot tell”, stressing also that the evaluating team is in no position to decide. Negros Occidental already hosted Palarong Pambansa four times, while none for Capiz.*
