Expo calls for innovative enterprise
BY MAX N. MACAHILO

Seven Filipino innovators from various industries of the country, dubbed as the #7NEWJUANDERS2019, shared their experiences of success during the conference of the Dream Expo-Negros Occidental, held at the Social Hall of the Provincial Capitol in Bacolod City, Monday.

“It is a half-day conference created to celebrate Filipino ingenuity, innovation and inspiration through the 7 New and Enterprising Way (NEW) initiated and sustained by seven outstanding Filipinos (Juanders) who continuously challenge and positively impacted their respective industries,” Provincial Tourism Officer Christine Mansinares said.

Inspired by the timeless significance of the “Seven Wonders of the World”, the Dream Expo-Negros Occidental aims to introduce new and innovative enterprise to stakeholders in the province.

“Eventually, this will create new business relationships and economic partnerships,” she added.

The 7NewJuanders speakers were Banana chief Raymund Aaron of Villa Socorro Farm, Joselito Ocol - Agrabah Marketplace, Retailgate’s Raphael Layosa, Invest Ed’s Carmina Bayombong, Pazeball’s Rico Serrano, RJ Tolentino of Rurok Industries, and Lau Dagum of Antipara Exploration.

“Make sure that, as a farmer, you will be there on the ground. It is not going to be easy but it is such a fruitful life. Don’t think as a traditional farmer, incorporate disciplines from other industries and put them into farming,” Aaron said as he addressed the farmer participants of the conference.

Aaron was referring to the different industries and disciplines where the other speakers belong.

Aside from farm, and food tourism and hospitality innovation, the speakers briefed the audience on the beauty of web technology in getting into the market and on how to save production cost while increasing the profit, cost effective data collection and analyzation, competitive intelligence through retail analytics, and even loan programs for college students.

The Dream Expo-Negros Occidental is an initiative of the Provincial Tourism Office, and the Tourism Educators and Movers PH-Western Visayas.*
