2 hacked dead

Two farm workers died in a hacking incident on Wednesday in Brgy. Cabacungan, La Castellana, Negros Occidental.

The two victims, identified by the La Castellana police as Joemar Pacionela, and an alias Danny, succumbed to hack wounds in the backs of their neck.

The suspect, Jaime Lorente, a migrant worker from Dumalag, Capiz, surrendered to Kagawad Ivan Villaluz and La Castellana police, after the incident.

La Castellana police investigation showed that Lorente and the victims were having a drinking spree, before the incident.

Although they were pacified, Lorente, armed with a cane cutter, returned to the drinking place and hacked Pacionela and alias Danny several times.

The suspect later surrendered the bladed weapon used in the commission of the crime.

Meanwhile, a fugitive facing murder and frustrated homicide charges in court, was also apprehended by the police in Brgy. Lalagsan, La Castellana, Negros Occidental.

Nabbed by virtue of arrest warrants issued by Judges Reynaldo Alon and Felipe Banzon, was April Alvarez, alias Wasak, of Brgy. 21, Victorias City, Negros Occidental.

Judge Alon recommended no bail for murder charges,while Judge Banzon recommended P24,000 bail for frustrated homicide charges against Alvarez who is ranked number two in the list of top 10 most wanted persons in Victorias City, the police said.*
