Abante Pilipinas Partylist nominee George Arnaiz, former Negros Oriental 2nd District solon, said his vision for Negros Oriental is to have four representatives in the Lower House.
He said he accepted the offer for him to be the first nominee of the Abante Pilipinas partylist group in the May 13 elections.
This is also the first time that a first nominee of any partylist group comes from Negros Oriental, he said.
He said this is a different ballgame because he will be campaigning for votes not just in Negros Oriental but the entire country, including parts of Mindanao, Cebu and Iloilo.
He explained that Abante Pilipinas is a political partylist group, not just representing a certain sector. Arnaiz said that if it were a sectoral group, he would have refused to become the first nominee because he is a politician.
He appealed for support from Negrenses to be able to get at least 2 percent of the entire votes cast or more, so the second nominee can also sit in Congress.
If two nominees are in, he said they already have an initial understanding that half, if not more of funding allocations, will be brought to Negros Oriental through different agencies in government.*
