‘Enforce no parking policy’
BY CHRYSEE G. SAMILLANO

The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod is requesting the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office, through the Office of Mayor Evelio Leonardia to strictly implement the no parking policy along Lacson Street, Bacolod City from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The resolution authored by Councilor Caesar Distrito said the local government is mandated to do all means to maintain a sound traffic management within its jurisdiction.

E arly last year, the Sanggunian extended the “no parking” schedule along Lacson Street from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., it said.

The resolution said the developments currently happening in the city brought about two things: a significant shift to the rush hours of the city and the increasing number of vehicles regularly plying its main streets.

O n record, Lacson Street is the busiest main thoroughfare of the city that caters to thousands of vehicles everyday, ranging from light to heavy vehicles. It also has several traffic congestion points particularly during rush hours and among its leading causes are the blatant parking of vehicles on the street, it said.

Systematic strict enforcement of the no parking policy should be done continuously in Lacson Street to prevent stressful traffic congestions and traffic discipline should be imposed as well.*
