NOHS student:
NSPC champion

Eleventh grader Amy Grace Algara of Negros Occidental High School was declared photojournalism champion in the Department of Education’s National Schools Press Conference held in Lingayen, Pangasinan last week.

She won over 50 other finalists – all Top Three winners in regional competitions. She was also No. 1 in the Western Visayas regional competition.

Amy Grace, who joined in the Filipino category, was accompanied by her ‘Ang Aninag’ adviser Gira Delgado and Analita Batisla-on, head of the NOHS Filipino Department.

She is the daughter of Armando Algara Jr., a bottling firm employee, and wife, Cenecita. The Algaras reside at Barangay Alijis.

In the competition, the contestants were asked to design a page of photos taken from a presentation of student election candidates and write
appropriate captions and title of the photo story.

“I sought guidance from the Lord and remembered what my coaches advised me,” she said, adding that her parents’ support and encouragement motivated her to do her best.

‘Ang Aninag’ was also represented in the NSPC by its collaborative desktop publishing team, champion in the regional contest.*
