UNegA may back
8 senate bets: guv

The United Negros Alliance may support eight senatorial candidates collectively in the May polls, its chairman Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. said yesterday.

They will support candidates who will support the sugar industry and Negros Occidental, he said.

The governor said earlier that he is personally endorsing the senatorial bids of Mar Roxas, Bong Go, and reelectionists Grace Po, Cynthia Villar, Sonny Angara.

The UNegA has yet to announce the eight senatorial bets it will support.

Marañon said it will be up to the individual UNegA members to choose the four other senate bets they wish to support.

Asked if he will support all the senatorial candidates who are from Negros Occidental, the governor said “Don’t ask me that, even you people would not vote for some of them.”

“Let’s not talk about politics now, the biggest problem of this country is politics, let’s talk about development, poverty, peace and order,” he said.*
