Montelibano, Ko sure winners

Two candidates for the Negros Occidental third district board member seats are sure winners now.

This after former Negros Occidental provincial agriculturist Igmedio Tabianan (PMP) withdrew his certificate of candidacy on Friday, Acting Provincial Election Supervisor Salud Milagros Villanueva confirmed yesterday.

That leaves incumbent board member Manuel Frederick Ko (NPC), and Murcia Mayor Andrew Montelibano (PDP-Laban) as the only candidates left for the two board member seats, making them presumptive board members, she said.

Tabianan cannot be replaced by his party because the period for a substitute to file a certificate of candidacy has ended, Villanueva said.

The substitution period was from October 18 to November 29, 2018.

Villanueva said she did not know the reason for Tabianan’s withdrawal of his CoC.

“I would like to thank Mr. Tabianan for withdrawing his certificate of candidacy for board member of the third district. This will give way to peace and continuous public service to the people of the third district,” Montelibano said, when asked for his reaction.*
