Micah Tanate captured the title in women’s open event while Janley Manzanares dominated the men’s open competition to lead the winners in this year’s edition of the Lopue’s-Bacolaodiat Invitational Table Tennis Championship held during the weekend at the Lopue’s San Sebastian Annex in Bacolod City.
Tanate beat Mariella Macquiao in the finals to bag the championship while Gems Gellang settled for the second runner-up honors.
Manzanares was in his finest form in the men’s competition as he beat James Saligumba to win the gold medal while Cris Lester Rejon secured the bronze.
In the 13 and Under boys category, Dirk Nikhole Atilano beat Shaun Rain Jardinico, 3-0, to win the championship while Joaquin Bragancia placed third.
The winners in the 10 and Under boys event were James Michael Tancinco (champion), JB John Gaviola (first runner-up), and Juan Muñes (second runner-up).
In 10 and Under girls, the top three finishers were Jona Mae Gonzales (champion), Ameera Bacomo (first runner-up), and Saran Daguia (second runner-up).
Men’s Open Executive champion was Garry Trasporto, who won over Pastor Allan Tupas in the finals, while Nicky Puentevella Jr. placed second runner-up.
Timon Villanueva was the champion in Women’s Executive B Event with Vanessa Puentevella settling for the first runner-up honors and Ma. Lee Trasporto, second runner-up.
Winners in the Veterans (60 and Above) category were Felipe Epitacio (champion), Rev. Joel Valdez (first runner-up), and Ben Alo (second runner-up).
The tournament, one of the annual events organized by the Lopue’s Table Tennis Association under the leadership of Leonito “Diotay” Lopue, drew participation from table tennis players from Toboso, Sagay, Cadiz, Silay, Talisay, Murcia, La Castellana, La Carlota, San Enrique, Moises Padilla, Binalbagan, and different schools and clubs in Bacolod.
A product of the mission and vision of LOPTTA the tournament is held in celebration of the Bacolaodiat or the Chinese New Year Festival in Bacolod.*
