Implement outdoor
advertising code: SP
BY CHRYSEE G. SAMILLANO

The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod is requesting the Office of the Building Official and the City Legal Office, through the office of Mayor Evelio Leonardia, to strictly implement City Ordinance No. 647, series of 2013 or “The Outdoor Advertising Signs and Sign Structures Code of Bacolod City”, and inspect the proliferation of billboards constructed without the required permits from the city.

The resolution authored by Councilor Caesar Distrito said it has been observed that there are still billboards found in the major streets of the city that are not compliant with the provisions of C.O. No. 647, test provides the regulation of the establishment of outdoor advertising signs, such as billboards, in the city.

It said there are billboards being displayed in several areas that were posted without securing the necessary permits from the city government.

The resolution said some billboards are found to be unsafe, hazardous and pose danger to passers-by and motorists, since they could break or fall anytime particularly during typhoons and other calamities.

For those billboards, found to be violating the ordinance, the City Legal Office and the Office of the Building Official should issue a cease-and-desist order, or order for its removal, if found to be dangerous to the safety of the public, it added.*
