Marijuana plants discovered;
cops arrest eight suspects

The latest series of police operations led to the arrest of eight more drugs suspects, including a couple, and the recovery of suspected shabu and fully grown marijuana plants in Negros Occidental.

A team of policemenled by Senior Inspector Jaynick Bermudez, uprooted on Saturday seven fully grown marijuana plants in Hacienda Teresa, Brgy. Alicante, EB Magalona town.

The discovery of the fully grown marijuana plants came after the arrest of John Allen Lamayo, 25, and a laborer, during a buy-bust operation in the hacienda.

Bermudez reported that the apprehension of Lamayo also yielded seven suspected dried marijuana cigarettes, an improvised pipe containing dried marijuana leaves and P200 in marked money.

The police also seized two grams of suspected shabu, estimated to have a market value of P24,000, during a buy-bust operation also on Saturday at the Ylagan Extension in Brgy. 5, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

Nabbed was John Mark Iligan, 24, who is classified by the San Carlos police as a high value target.

Also recovered from Iligan were assorted shabu paraphernalia and P500 in marked money.

Two more drug suspects identified by the police as Alvin Erillo, 28,and Ronnie Besillas Jr.,20, were arrested also during a buy-bust operation in SitioMohon, Brgy. Binicuil, Kabankalan City.

The apprehension of Erillo and Besillas yielded four sachets of suspected shabu, a plastic sachet containing dried marijuana leaves, P2,580 in cash, P100 in marked money, and a motorcycle.

The police also arrested Edgar Mallorca in Brgy. Salvacion, Murcia, for violation of RA 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Chief Inspector Roberto Indiape, Murcia police chief, said the apprehension of Mallorca, a resident of Brgy. Bunga, Salvador Benedicto, yielded two sachets of suspected shabu, P300 in marked money, a cellular phone, P2,800 in cash and a Honda motorcycle.

A couple identified as Jecel Quiatchon and her live-in partner, Warbin Garcia, were both arrested also on Friday by the police in another buy-bust in Brgy. Tiglawigan, Cadiz City.

Chief Inspector Robert Mansueto, Cadiz City police officer-in-charge, said yesterday that Quiatchon and Garcia, whom they had also classified as high value targets in their watchlist, had been previously arrested and detained for violation of RA 9165.

But Quiatchon was freed from jail after posting bail ofP900,000, Mansueto said.

Garcia was also released from jail and resumed his illegal activities, together with Quiatchon, he added.

The apprehension of Quiatchon and Garcia also yielded six sachets of suspected shabu, estimated to have a street market value of P3,500,  P1,000 in marked money, as well as P1,850 in cash.

Chief Inspector Antonio Benitez also reported the arrest of Rosue Ofqueria, alias Toto, during a buy-bust operation in Purok Matawhay, Brgy. Fabrica, Sagay City.

The apprehension of Ofqueira, 30, also yielded a sachet of suspected shabu and P500 in marked money.*
