SP approves P165M
new contract with IPM
BY CHRYSEE G. SAMILLANO

The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod Wednesday approved the renewal of contract between Bacolod City and IPM Construction and Development Corp. for the collection and disposal of garbage from March 1 to December 31, amounting to P165 million.

Only Councilor Claudio Puentevella voted in the negative while 12 councilors voted in the affirmative.

Councilor Ricardo Tan was absent during the session Wednesday.

Bacolod Councilor Caesar Distrito yesterday said they approved the contract after IPM-CDC won the bidding conducted by the Bids and Awards Committee.

He said the last step is for the mayor to sign the contract of services after the SP had ensured that all the procedures have been complied with by the contractor.

Distrito said they find this even cheaper than the previous contractor because it will cost the city only about P17 million a month compared to that of the previous contractor which was P30 million a month.

So the SP approved the contract and authorized the mayor to sign it, he said.

They have not yet received the contract for the maintenance of the sanitary landfill which IPM-CDC had won during the biding, he added.*
