Class 96 reigns in
NOHS Alumni bowlfest

 

Batch ‘96 bagged the tournament’s crown in the premiere division, as Batch ’95 and Batch ’90 won the title in Class B and C category of the Negros Occidental High School Inter-class Alumni Bowling Fellowship at the Negros Super Lanes in Bacolod City.

Ranked No.3 in the final four teams, the Batch ’96 pin busters claimed the top prize by defeating the favorite and twice-to-beat Class ’85 in two games, 497-496 and 565-533 for the title.

Prior to their confrontation with Class ’85, the champion squad ripped Class ’73 in the quarterfinals and outhustled Batch ’94 in the semis to arrange a final showdown with the top seed.

Team members were Gladys Leonardo, Cyril Mayordomo, Mitch Villa, James Toga, Jorge Joniega Jr., Victor Gutierez, Joy Tayson, Nice Gamboa and Annabelle Taguiwalo.

Villa top scored for the team with 135 points, while Gutierez and Mayordomo contributed 118 and 111 each. Nonito Tubongbanua and Iran Pielago starred for the losing Class ’85 with 124 and 121, respectively.

In bracket B, Batch ’95 bulldozed Batch ’99, 526-469 to win the title.

Essho Garcia played the hero’s role for the winning team with 126 points, as RJ Gonzales and Joemar Baylon scored 109 and 105 for the losing cause of Batch ’99.

The other members of Batch ’95 were Stephen Dormido, Bonnie Balontong, Jhamilo Garces, Effie Lim, Cherryl Bacay, Arnel Gasataya, Divina Sarne, Rose Telis, and Robert Castor.

Batch ’90 piloted by Mark Andren won the title in Class C category with a victory over Batch ’97 anchored by Jecky Sola in the championship, 502-498.

Carrying the colors for the victorious team were Andren, Jake Castillano, Yeng Yeng, Julius Flores, and Joel Herrera.

Edgar Vargas of Class ’85 and Lea Uy of Class ’73 emerged as master bowler in the their respective division.*HLG
