PNP chief orders probe
on NegOr ‘death squad’

The Philippine National Police has ordered an investigation into the alleged existence of a death squad in Negros Oriental.

PNP chief, Gen. Oscar Albayalde, admitted yesterday that it is the first time that he heard about the anti-communist group called Kawsa Guihulnganon Batok Komunista (KAGUBAK) in Negros Oriental.

During a hearing conducted by the Senate Committee on Public Order on Tuesday on the killings in Negros Oriental, Senator Risa Hontiveros said authorities should take KAGUBAK seriously to protect the names which are on the list of the so-called death squad. moremoremore

As killings continue

A barangay kagawad and a 55-year-old man have added to the long list of victims of shooting incidents in Negros Oriental.

Kagawad Ramonito Handumon was shot and killed on Wednesday by still unidentified gunman in Sitio Tamwag, Brgy. Mabunga, Guihulngan City, according to Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office report.

Handumon is a barangay kagawad of Mabunga in Guihulngan City.

The identity of the gunman or the motive of the killing has not been established by the police, as of this time. moremoremore

NegOcc joins PH Travel Mart

The provincial government of Negros Occidental is joining the four-day Philippine Travel Mart, a travel trade exhibition, at SMX Convention Center in the Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City, that will open today.

Cristine Mansinares, Negros Occidental provincial supervising tourism operations officer, said that PTM, now on its 30th edition, is considered as the country’s longest travel exhibition, and one of the biggest travel expos in the Philippines.

“The exhibition features Philippine destinations and updated tourism products for domestic and foreign visitors,” she added.
