Tanate, Gubaton lead winners
in MassKara table tennis tourney

John Paul Gubaton and Micah Tanate led the winners in the Lopue’s MassKara Invitational Table Tennis Championship organized by the Lopue’s Table Tennis Association in partnership with the Sugarlandia Lions Club at LOPTTA Playing Center in Bacolod City over the weekend.

Unbeaten from the preliminaries up the final round, Tanate won the championship in the women’s event after defeating Mariella Mabaquiao in the finals. Mabaquiao settled for first runner-up honors while Paula Beatrice Canalin placed third.

In the men’s open event, Gubaton won the championship against Niel John Lauren while Pastor Richard received the second runner-up award.

Iloilo, Davao to dispute Copa title

It will be Davao Aguilas versus Kaya Iloilo in the Copa Paulino Alcantara final.

Davao took the second seat in the championship match of the inaugural staging of the Philippines Football League's cup tourney after a 6-1 blasting of JPV Marikina at the Rizal Memorial Stadium Sunday night.

Four nights after a Man of the Match-worthy performance in Biñan against Stallion Laguna, Kim Sung-Min put up an even more impressive showing to lead Davao.

Kim opened the scoring barrage with a 32nd minute goal before James Younghusband made it 2-0 by the 40th minute.
