A P500 million luxury boutique hotel will be built by real-estate developer Megaworld Corporation within its 34-hectare The Upper East township project in Bacolod City and is expected to be completed in 2022, an official of the company announced yesterday.

Rachelle Peñaflorida, vice president for Sales and Marketing of Megaworld, said that this is their first hotel that will be built in their township project at the compound of the old Bacolod-Murcia Milling Co. on the east side of Bacolod.

“The hotel’s main lobby will be a retrofitted heritage house that used to be the old ‘guest house’ inside BMMC. Beside it will be another wing that used to house guest rooms for visitors, which will be converted into a ballroom facility,” she said at a press conference at the L’Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City. moremoremore

‘Calibrate importation of sugar’
BY CARLA P. GOMEZ

Sugar leaders yesterday said while there is nothing they can do about the government economic managers’ decision to import sugar, they want its entry to be timed correctly.

Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said yesterday that retailers may be permitted to directly import rice and sugar, but retail prices will be set by government.

Lopez said this price setting system is in line with the Administrative Order 13 released by Malacañang last month, directing the National Food Authority, Sugar Regulatory Administration, and Department of Trade and Industry to remove administrative constraints and non-tariff barriers on the importation of agricultural products to curb food inflation. moremoremore
