There is still a glimmer of hope for provincial government employees to get a Christmas bonus, although the province failed to get a Seal of Good Governance from the Department of Interior and Local Government this year.
Board Member Salvador Escalante, chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee on Finance, yesterday said Capitol employees should pray that the province will win the DILG Excellence in Local Governance (EXCELL) award.
Being a winner in EXCELL, or getting the Seal of Good Governance award, is a basis for giving Christmas bonuses to Capitol employees, Escalante said.
While there is no official announcement yet on the result of the EXCELL awards, Escalante said “It seems that we were able to pass it with flying colors”, noting that, instead of three days workshop and going around at various Capitol offices, they (DILG inspectors) were able to complete it in one and half-day.
Last year, Negros Occidental Capitol employees received P20,000 additional bonus each, on top of other annual benefits due to them.
If ever there is, Escalante said it will be same as the amount given last year.
Meanwhile, the SP also approved the 2018 general fund supplemental budget number 11 of the province of Negros Occidental during its regular session yesterday, worth P36,135,935.67.
Escalante said P12 million has been allocated for the site development of the two-hectare Land Transportation Office donated by the provincial government in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City.*
