Police chief among 4 injured in 15-hour operation

A drug group leader and his relative were killed, while four others were injured, including a police official, in a 15-hour hot-pursuit operation to neutralize the Poja Drug Group in Sitio Sibucao, Purok Rosas Pandan in Barangay Banago, Bacolod City, yesterday.
Ramy Poja, 36, who had pending warrants of arrest for gun and drugs charges, was killed at 4:30 p.m., the police said. He had escaped authorities pursuing him in the past by tossing grenades at them in 2015, 2016, and in February this year.
PNP disarms cop

A police officer who shot and injured a minor near Robinsons Place Bacolod in Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City, at about 2:50 a.m. yesterday, was disarmed for the ongoing investigation.
Police Officer 3 Jully Gabaran, assigned at Station 3, is now under restriction in order not to influence the probe, Senior Insp. Armilyn Vargas, Bacolod City Police Office, said.
He was disarmed of his Glock17 9mm pistol, records show.The 16-year-old boy was an outpatient at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, Vargas said.
