clinch all three softball titles

All three Negros Occidental softball teams swept the titles in the Visayas leg of the Philippine Series that ended in Dumaguete City yesterday.

The newly-crowned Palarong Pambansa champion from ETCS 1 and Domingo Lacson National high School scored identical 20-0 blowout wins on Friday to shut out Bohol and Dumaguete in their best-of-three assignment in the Majors (11-12) and Juniors (13-4) age groups.

In the Seniors Category (15-16), Moises Padilla posted a 10-0 triumph in three innings in Game 2, also against Dumaguete, to complete the sweep.

LCC books q’finals berth
in NBA President’s Cup

La Consolacion College/Davies Paint/J Squared Construction scored an emphatic 98-77 win against Supreme ABF/Silvergraces Construction to secure the last ticket to the quarter-finals of the Negros Basketball Association President’s Cup at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym yesterday.

The victory gave LCC its third win after eight games in the elimination round to finish at No. 6 in the team standings. The team will face ESJ/YBAC/FyrFyter this Saturday at the start of the quarter-finals.

While LCC managed to hurdle the task and advance to the next round, University of St. La Salle and Melfern were eliminated after the La Sallians bowed to topseed UNO-R, 59-65, while Duke Jay Game Farm eliminated Melfern, 99-97.
