La Consolacion College/Davies Paint/J Squared Construction scored an emphatic 98-77 win against Supreme ABF/Silvergraces Construction to secure the last ticket to the quarter-finals of the Negros Basketball Association President’s Cup at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym yesterday.
The victory gave LCC its third win after eight games in the elimination round to finish at No. 6 in the team standings. The team will face ESJ/YBAC/FyrFyter this Saturday at the start of the quarter-finals.
While LCC managed to hurdle the task and advance to the next round, University of St. La Salle and Melfern were eliminated after the La Sallians bowed to topseed UNO-R, 59-65, while Duke Jay Game Farm eliminated Melfern, 99-97.
Silvergraces will play against Duke Jay in the other quarter-final game on Saturday.
Meanwhile, UNO-R, after sweeping the elimination round, advanced to the semi-finals along with No. 2 Colegio de Sta. Ana-Victorias with both teams enjoying twice-to-beat advantage.
UNO-R will play against the winner between LCC and FyrFyter while CSA-V will take on the survivor in the game between Silvergraces and Duke Jay Farm.
The President’s Cup, which opened last month, is the initial offering of the NBA this year following nearly a decade of hiatus.
