Bishop victim of trolls, too
BY CARLA P. GOMEZ

Bacolod Bishop Patricio Buzon said yesterday that he has already died a thousand times in the hands of trolls who bash him on social media.

The bishop was reacting to his having been bashed again on social media yesterday for his call on the faithful to join a prayer gathering in front of the San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod City last night.

He called for prayers to uphold and preserve justice in the country following the 8-6 vote in the Supreme Court to oust Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno, that was passed on by netizens on social media.

“I have been a victim of so many trolls with all the controversies we’ve been through,” he said, adding that he will pray for them.

The bishop said he has not actually seen what the bashers are saying about him since he is not on social media, he was only informed about what is being said.

Buzon said Vice President Leni Robredo told him during her visit to Bacolod Wednesday that she has also been a victim of trolls, malicious lies and fake news.

In the beginning, the vice president said she would not dignify or stoop down to those attacking her because, in the end, the truth would prevail, Buzon said.

But she realized that it was not right, such lies should be confronted so the truth will come out, he said.*CPG
