Reigning World Boxing Organization Asia-Pacific Featherweight champion Genesis “Azukal” Servania will fight against Indonesian Jason ButarButar in a tune-up match scheduled May 13 in Quezon City.
The boxing champ from Bacolod City, said the fight against ButarButar will prepare him for the bigger battles ahead.
“This would be a warm-up fight but, I don’t have any idea when will the big one,” he said.
Servania, 26, lost his bid for the WBO World Featherweight title last year against Oscar Valdez.
The loss was his first in 31 fights with 13 knockouts.
ButarButar, 29, is a former regional boxing challenger with 51 fights and 18 victories by knockout to his credit.
Meanwhile, the fight for the vacant WBO super-flyweight title between Philippines’ longest reigning world boxing champion Donnie Nietes and his compatriot Aston Palicte is scheduled on August 11 in Cebu.
The encounter between the two outstanding Filipino boxers marks Nietes debut as a super-flyweight fighters after reigning in the mininumweight, light flyweight and flyweight divisions.
Nietes announced recently that he aims for a fourth world title. The fight against Palicte will be Nietes’ 42 nd battle inside the ring with a single loss and four draws.
Palicte, on the other hand, made headlines during his amateur days as member of the Philippine boxing team with a 24-2 win-loss record.*NAB
