Basecom rallied past Organic Solutions, 78-76,while Royal Star Trading barged into the win column at the expense of Silver Dragon Transport, 65-49, at the end of the first round in Class B of the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inc. Inter Company Basketball Tournament, at the Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym in Bacolod City Tuesday night.
In Class A tussle, JSY Transport defeated AACI Transport, 86-82, and AACI Transport recovered two days later to rout AACI Trading, 86-58 .
Organic Solutions held a 39-37 at the half behind Dayven Dreyfus, who shot 11 points while Ardian Ong added eight even as Mar Macainan had 10 points for Basecom.
Organic Solutions extended the lead to 62-55 going to the fourth quarter behind a balanced offense led by Archie Bayquin. Kenneth Ymalay scored eight points to provide a big lift for Basecom, cutting the lead to single digit.
Bayquin continued with his stellar plays as he added eight points in the payoff quarter and Dreyfus made two triples, but they could not stop the Basecom rally led by Adonis Rosales and Macainan. Rodolfo Sabio provided the winning play in the game as he produced a 3-point play in the dying seconds to stolethe victory from Organic Solutions.
Macainan led Basecom with 19 points, Rosales tallied 16, Roger Montalbo added 12 and Sabio finished with 10 points.
Dreyfus scored 19 points for Organic Solutions, backstopped by Bayquinwith 16 points, Ong added 10 , Omar Galunan and Kerwyn Guillonwith 8 points each and Ricky Chua contributed 6 points.
Meanwhile, Royal Star Trading notched itsfirst victory against Silver Dragon Transport. Royal Star Trading held a 39-18 first half lead and they never looked back.
Kevin Camato paced Royal Star Trading with 17 points as teammates Marc Nacua added 10 and Ervin Tan with 9 points.
Edward Uy bannered Silver Dragon Transport with 14 points, Clarence Quingco nailed 11 and Simon Tan with 8 points.
In the other Class A game, AACI Trading held a slim 19-18 lead in the opening quarter but AACI Transport managed to fine tuned its defense as they held Trading to a single digit output in the next two quarters.
Robbie Jalandoon topscored for ACI Transport with 21 points, Arnol Laureño with 13, Michael Ang and Mark Binguan nailed 8 triples between them for 15 and 12 points, respectively.
Harry Siendo led AACI Trading 17 points as Yan Yan Dy and Ramon Khey delivered 11 points each.*
