Work ends at noon
today: Malacaņang

Malacañang yesterday suspended work in all government offices from noon onwards on Holy Wednesday to allow employees to prepare for the observance of Holy Thursday and Good Friday.

Presidential Communications Operations Office Assistant Secretary Ana Marie Banaag confirmed this in a Palace briefing.

In a memorandum circular signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Malacañang said the half-day work on Holy Wednesday will include government-owned and controlled corporations and local government units, and classes in all public schools, state-universities and colleges.

The memorandum, however, said that agencies involved in law enforcement, response action to disasters and calamities, and other vital services should be on stand-by.

“However, those government agencies whose functions involve law enforcement, response action to disasters and calamities, and or performance of other vital services shall make available stand-by services/arrangements to meet any contingencies,” the memorandum read.

Meanwhile, Malacañang will leave the suspension of work in other branches of government and independent bodies, as well as in private companies and offices, to the discretion of their respective administrators.*PNA
