LTO apprehends
two colorum vans

The Land Transportation Office in Region 6 apprehended two colorum vans in Negros Occidental, as part of its Oplan Ligtas Byahe Semana Santa.

LTO-Western Visayas director Rolando Ramos said yesterday that the colorum vans were caught transporting passengers in the Valladolid and Bago City areas, both in Negros Occidental.

The crackdown on colorum vans is being enforced by the LTO to ensure the safety of commuters who will be travelling during the Lenten season, Ramos said.

Four enforcement teams from LTO-6 have been deployed in Negros Occidental, including Bacolod City, to monitor overloading of buses and other public utility vehicles, and to check their road worthiness before leaving terminals, he said.

Personnel from the Highway Patrol Group and the Philippine National Police are augmenting the LTO, Ramos added.*SGG
