Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday told those still hoping that the May 14 barangay elections will be postponed, that the Senate has made it very clear that the elections will proceed as scheduled.
“So, for barangay officials, your day of judgment will soon come,” he said, especially citing the incumbents.
“I personally feel that elections should happen because that is the only way where your constituents can judge you,” he said.
Those planning to run for barangay posts should start informing their constituents of their plans since there is no such thing as electioneering, he said.
The advantage of incumbent officials who are doing well is that it is easy to sell themselves, but if one did not do well, that gives the challengers a chance, Lacson added.*CPG
