Dumaguete spikers rule
Sipalay beach volley tilt

 

Team Timagrey from Dumaguete City, composed of players Princess Lyca Abrasaldo and Yrinitz Baligasa prevailed over St. John’s Institute-A tandem of Lorien Gamboa and Bea Gapusan, 21-13, 21-17, to capture the title in the Sipalay City 18 & Under Women's Beach Volleyball Invitational Tournament yesterday.

Timagrey advanced to the finals after beating Yushawu Saidatu and Jillaiza Mika Doing of Foundation Preparatory Academy in the semi-finals, while SJI-A booked their set in the championship round by conquering Ash Bikheet and Myrtle Escanlar of Pontevedra.

In the battle for third place, Pontevedra outplayed FPA.

Aside from the four finalists, the tournament also drew participation from University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, Cebu, host Sipalay, and University of St. La Salle.

The beach volleyball competition is part of the 17th Charter Day celebration of Silay with Nathaniel Jan Celiz and coordinator and Roger Banzuela of UNIGAMES and Negros Occidental Volleyball Association, with Eduardo Baragat – president of Pasaway Foundation, Inc. as tournament officials.*
