Former Land Transportation Office Bacolod chief Antonio Norman Saril, 70, passed away at the Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital in Bacolod City at about 10:50 p.m. Tuesday.
He suffered a mild cardiac arrest and after a week in the Intensive Care Unit died from lung infection, his son, Jan Saril, said.
A month ago it was discovered that he was suffering from lung cancer, his son said.
His father had also been suffering from kidney failurefor last seven years and was a Type 2 diabetic, Jan said
Saril had worked for the LTO for 41 years and retired when he was 65.
The former LTO Bacolod chief is survived by his wife Nemia Gela Saril and children, lawyer Jan Anthony Saril and his wife Prosecutor Maria Mercedes Odango-Saril, lawyer Andrei Norman Saril and his wife Renella Mae Saril, and Anna Loreto Saril.
His remains lie in state at Isle 1 of the Acropolis Gardens, in Brgy. Bata, Bacolod City.*
