More than 1 million
covered by infocast

 

More than one million residents in the communities of the Diocese of Dumaguete will benefit from Smart Infocast, a text message broadcast solution by PLDT wireless unit Smart Communications, a government press release said.

Theshort message service platform will enable the Diocese to send weather updates, church announcements, and other information to priests and parishioners via the text message.

It also allows registered subscribers to send reports or feedback to the system administrator, the press release said.

Cathlyn Adlawan of Smart Visayas community development and partnerships demonstrated the Infocast’s features to the Diocese recently.

St. Maria Gorretti Foundation president, Msgr. Merlin Logronio, who will serve as the administrator of the systemfor the diocese, expressed his gratitude to the Smart team for providing the system that will help the communities.

The Diocese of Dumaguete includes some cities and municipalities in Negros Oriental and Siquijor, the press release added.*
