Negrense in Saudi seeking help
BY SHIELA G. GELERA

A Negrense household service worker in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is asking for help through a video posted on Facebook, as she has allegedly been locked in a stockroom by her employersince March 12.

“I really want to go home as I can no longer bear the suffering here,”Jhane Alimpipinig Cauntoy, who is from Bago City, Negros Occidental, said in the video posted by her friend Car Togonon Sunga.

Cauntoy said she was only given noodles for food in the evening every day since March 13.

“I am feeling dizzy and I am already not feeling well,” said Cauntoy, who is hoping the video reaches the proper authorities.

She said there was a time when she asked for rice on March 14, but her employer allegedly gave her spoiled rice.

“I did not eat the rice since it already had a foul smell,” she said, adding that, “I asked for rice from them but they didn’t want to give me any.”

Cauntoy, who got emotional in the video, is appealing for help so she can go back to the Philippines and to her family.

In the conversation between Sunga and Cauntoy, the latter said that she hid to record the video so her employer would not find out.

The video of Cauntoy has gone viral with several shares on Facebook.*SGG
